Domain Renewal

Just paid out a whooping $10.48 to renew one of my domains, The Peregrinator. Although I still have more than a month before it's expiry date, I just want to get that out of the way. Although I haven't earned anything from that site, I don't want to let go of it. Thankfully though, I've earned enough from two of my blogs and other affiliate programs to help me pay this off. I was planning to make a photoblog using that domain but that will just have to wait until, hopefully, January 2011.

When I registered this domain for the first time, I only paid $1.17. Big difference, eh? But that's because I used a promotional code. GoDaddy do offer these codes every now and then. You might want to check if they have one right now.

Bloggers, especially those who are already earning from their blogs, know very well that having your own domain is a big plus in finding online opportunities. This is one of the main capital in this business. So if you are really serious in making money online, why don't you check with GoDaddy if the domain you want is still available.

I'm definitely keeping Learn and Make Money Online but I'm not sure if I want to keep Events, Contests and Freebies though. What do you guys think?

  1. I posted a comment earlier then got an error :(

Anyway, just wanted to know - will buying a domain help increase PR as well?

  2. hello Jaime. Actually I don't think it helps. From what I understand about PR, it's like knowing how "popular" your site is. So even if you don't have your own domain but you're getting a lot of traffic and a lot of bloggers are linking back to your site (or putting you as reference), then you have a better chance of getting higher PR. Although, it does put a pressure on the blogger to "market" their site with their own domain just so they can earn back the cost of domain and hosting. :D (but again, that's only applicable to those whose main goal for getting a domain is to earn from it)
